Road to Hana Maui GyPSy Guide App Reviews

Thank God I found this app before exploring the Road to Hana. Without it, we would have, no doubt, missed almost all of the attractions, vistas, and nooks n crannies that made our day trip one well remember forever. The tour guide was knowledgeable and it was clear he is a local or knows Maui inside and out. We jokingly named him "Padre Bonneigh" (completely random) and felt he was our personal guide at the end. The ride back was great as well, as he saved some local history lessons to keep us occupied. Especially helpful was the fact he let us know which sites are must see and which can be skipped depending on time. We will definitely be using GyPSy in the future for any and all sightseeing for which they have tours. I wouldnt have wanted any other in-car tour guide experience, format, guide, or otherwise.

Really helpful and informative. Liked that it gave different commentary on the drive to and from Hana. Especially appreciated the history lessons. And given that half the drive back was done in the dark, it made for good entertainment and education. Only improvement would be to point out some other off the beaten path places but I guess thats how they stay "off the beaten path"!

Amazing! Could not imagine doing the road to Hana without it. So much history and facts provided, and it helps you know where to stop. Way better than paying for a tour- we kept our own pace and enjoyed everything. Get this app! You will be glad you did.

Excellent app! Terrific tour guide. Gave ample notice about upcoming sites. Keeps up with where you are, much better than using the tour CDs that have no connection with your location... will check to see if they have more that I can use on this trip Interesting running commentary... like having a native guide in the car with you.... now if they could just do the driving, too....

My niece had insisted we buy this app for doing the Hana trip, and we are so very glad we took her seriously. We loved the fact that we didnt have to worry about missing any of the sights along the way. We loved being regaled with stories of Maui, and the history as well as the importance of different places we saw, and the overall experience was awesome. So much so that we decided to buy the app for the trip to the Haleakala summit as well. Id highly recommend buying this app, if you are planning on driving to Hana!

This is an excellent ap, full of so much information, perfect that is is connected to GPS and gives exact turns. We feel that we were able we see and learn so much more about Hana because of having this ap! I purchased the All Maui version after using this one, wish I had purchased it first as the Hana tour is included in the All Maui package. I would recommend this to anyone going to Hana!

This app is worth the $5.00 download! So happy that we downloaded this for the Road to Hana! It hit all of the major stops and even stops that many tourists miss! The guide was very informative and entertaining. The facts about each stop were great and kept you on task to make sure you get to see everything worth seeing! Five stars!!

We were skeptical about this app but a concierge at our hotel recommended it after we insisted we would do the road to Hana on our own and not purchase a tour package. Even with all our research on places to stop, it is difficult with maps to figure out where exactly you are trying to stop. Plus, we would have spent so much time with that there would have been no way to tell the kids about any of the rich history. The app warned us when to expect to turn off, where to park and made suggestions of places to stop. When the kids were passed out on the way back we listened to the rich history of Maui and the Hawaiian Islands. Seriously the best $5 spent!

A must have if you travel down Hana. Does not need cell phone reception to be used which is hugely important as the reception is during the trip. Make sure you stop by the bamboo forest and do the hike!

The night before road to Hana, downloaded this and figured it would be a waste... By the end of the trip I felt like the narrator was an old friend. Extremely informative and the locations it points out are perfect. Our family LOVED this trip.. and without this app it would have. When a pointless misguided mess. Will use it again for sure.

Dont think about leaving for Hana without this app - guided you to places we would have missed and gave history along the way. Definitely fit in more spectacular sites than would have without. Advice was right on the money. Worth so much more than the $4 it cost. Dont hesitate, just download it!!

This app is totally worth the purchase! We used it on our road trip to Hana. It worked so well and was like having a private tour guide. We will be looking for other locations for our future road trips.

I have never written a review for an app before, but this made our trip to Hana. I have been on the road to Hana before and I was skeptical as to whether it would work because cell reception is minimal to zero in most places along the road. I am truly amazed. I have 3 kids who are prone to bickering during road trips and they became so engrossed with the stories and commentary provided that they stopped arguing to listen (especially when we were driving back in the dark and were tired). The historical stories and interesting tidbits added to our trip. I loved how he told us where to park and where the great picture spots were. I will be downloading this series if apps on all further road trips from now on.

We came upon this app is our search for information on the road to Hana night before our trip, all I can say is this is totally worth the download. It made the trip so much more interesting and enjoyable. Thank you!

I am so thankful I downloaded this app, the narrator provides pertinent and needed details of the tours, I would never have stopped in several look out and other stops without his recommendation...also the best food was from his recommendation, best 4$ Ive spent on this trip

Very informative, super guidance for first time visitors.

This made our drive so enjoyable. Gave us places to stop and entertained us and our kids the whole way. Lots of information about Maui and Hawaii history and full of places to stop and see. Based off of how much we loved this one we bought the one for Haleakala as well.
